Our FREE Activities on the Big Island

  • Tuesday: Chasing Waterfalls

Embark on an unforgettable adventure exploring the majestic waterfalls of the Big Island with our exclusive waterfall tour! Get ready to be mesmerized as we journey through lush rainforests, cascading streams, and verdant valleys, discovering some of the most breathtaking natural wonders Hawaii has to offer.

Our journey begins with a short drive to the majestic Boiling Pots and Rainbow Falls where, according to Hawaiian legend, the large cave beneath the falls is the home of Hina, mother of the Demi-God Maui and a fearful dragon named Moo Kuna tries to block the gorge below the falls to drown her. Next we head to Akaka Falls and Kahuna Falls, as you follow the paved footpath, you'll first see 100-foot Kahuna Falls. Continue to follow the loop around the bend, and you'll discover towering ʻAkaka Falls which plummets 442-feet into a stream-eroded gorge. Beautiful ʻAkaka Falls is perhaps the island of Hawaiʻi's most famous waterfall.

After a morning filled with adventure and exploration, we'll finish our tour with a short hike and swim up stream of a secret waterfall, allowing you to savor the moment and soak in the beauty of Hawaii's natural paradise. Here, you'll have the opportunity to explore and swim at the mouth of a cave, then follow the river downstream to bask in the tranquility of nature, and capture the perfect Instagram shot overlooking the valley.

Don't miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to discover the hidden treasures of Hawaii's waterfalls. Join us for an unforgettable journey that will leave you inspired, rejuvenated, and longing to return to this island paradise.

  • Wednesday: Volcano National Park Hike

Embark on an incredible journey through Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, where the ancient wonders of Nāhuku beckon adventurers from around the world. Also known as Thurston, this enchanting lava tube, born from a volcanic eruption over 500 years ago, awaits your exploration.

Step into a world unlike any other as you wander through the lush rainforest towards Nāhuku. Towering cave ceilings, reaching up to 20 feet in places, and a flat, illuminated pathway guide your way through this natural wonder. Feel the thrill of discovery as you uncover the secrets hidden within this 600-foot stretch of ancient lava flow.

But the adventure doesn't stop there. After immersing yourself in the depths of Nāhuku, continue your journey to the Devastation Trailhead. A picturesque one-mile round-trip walk along a paved path leads to the breathtaking Puʻupuaʻi Overlook.

Here, witness the haunting beauty of a landscape shaped by the fiery eruptions of Kīlauea Iki in 1959. The remnants of towering lava fountains paint a surreal tableau against the backdrop of lush greenery, offering a glimpse into the raw power of nature.

Join us as we delve into the heart of Hawaii's volcanic legacy, where each step unveils a new and unforgettable chapter in the story of this remarkable land.

  • Thursday: Green Sand Beach Hike

Join us on an extraordinary journey to witness one of nature's rarest gems - the Green Sand Beach. ONE OF ONLY 4 beaches in the world with green sand, our hiking tour takes you on a 6-mile round trip adventure to discover this natural wonder.

Papakōlea Beach, also known as the "Plover Flats," stands as a remarkable geological wonder found in only a handful of places across the globe. Situated within a bay carved into the side of Puʻu Mahana, a cinder cone formed approximately 50,000 years ago, this hiking adventure leads you to a mesmerizing green sand beach. The distinctive hue of the sand, attributed to the presence of olivine, a prevalent mineral in Big Island lava, lends an otherworldly charm to this secluded shoreline. Olivine, being denser than other lava components, accumulates on the beach, creating the unique green sands that distinguish Papakōlea Beach as a natural marvel.

Remember to pack swimwear, reef-safe sunscreen, towels, water, and sturdy hiking/water sandals for the journey. As we embark on this adventure, let the spirit of exploration guide you as we discover the remarkable beauty of the Green Sand Beach together.
